USAID celebrates a decade of partnership with Serbia and a half century of assistance worldwide

U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick and USAID Mission Director Susan Fritz celebrated the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) 10th year of service in Serbia and 50th year of providing assistance worldwide at a reception in Nis, on March 20th. Two representatives from Washington, USAID’s Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Paige Alexander and the Department of State’s Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Daniel Rosenblum, also attended the event.

The 50/10 USAID exhibition tells stories about the most successful projects USAID implemented in Serbia over the last 10 years. Susan Fritz, USAID Mission director (on the right) is showing Paige Alexander (in the middle) and Daniel Rosenblum (on the left) Department of State’s Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia, an exhibit of the project related to inclusion of the waste collectors in the system of National Employment Service aiming at recognition of this profession.

Ms. Alexander used this opportunity to visit South Serbia so as to be informed about the issues the citizens and authorities in South Serbia are facing as well as to witness the success stories of the USAID’s beneficiaries. Ms. Alexander visited the shoe company Stefi Co from Vranje, a member of the shoe cluster Kostana, where she was informed how the assistance of USAID helped this shoe company owners improve their sales, both on domestic and foreign markets.

During the visit to South Serbia, Paige Alexander, USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, visited the shoe company StefiCo in Vranje, a member of the Kostana shoe cluster, in order to be informed about the operations of the company and activities of the shoe cluster, both supported by USAID.
